  1. 1/4 cupswalnuts
  2. 6small tomatoes roughly chopped
  3. 2 clovesgarlic chopped
  4. 2green chilli cut
  5. 7-8curry leaves
  6. 1 Tbspolive oil
  7. 1/4 tspcumin seeds
  8. 1/3 tspmustard seeds
  9. 1 tspchana dal
  10. 1 tspurad dal
  11. 1 pinchhing powder
  12. 2 Tbspcoconut powder
  13. 2 Tbspsesame seeds
  14. 2 pinchturmeric powder
  15. as per tasteSalt
  16. 1 tspfanatic pulp
  17. 1 tspsugar
  18. 1/2 cupwater

Steps

  1. 1

    First,toast the walnuts and chop them to small chunks

    Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds and let them crackle. Add curry leaves and saute.

    Add both the dals, hing, garlic and green chilli and saute for 2 minutes.

    Mix coconut powder,sesame seeds and chopped toasted walnuts. Saute on low flame till sesame splutter.

    Add tomatoes along with turmeric, salt. Fry till tomatoes are soften.

    Bring down and cool the stuff and take in a grinder jar. Add tamarind pulp, sugar and water and make a smooth chutney. I relished with steamed rice.
