Classic BBQ Kalbi for Outdoor Grilling

When I told one of my neighborhood friends that I always find it troublesome to bring yakiniku barbecue sauce along to our outdoor camping cookouts, she shared this method of seasoning grilling meats. Since then, I've been working on making my own improvements to the recipe. The one I uploaded here is what's basically become the standard in my family. It's easy and delicious! Hurray!

Adjust the sweetness of the marinade to your liking. You can also add more sake to the marinade if you'd like. Using gochujang instead of doubanjiang is also quite delicious, and works particularly well with pork and chicken meat! Recipe by Genki jirushi shufu no moto

Ingredients

  • 12ribs Bone-in beef short ribs (sliced)
  • Marinade Sauce
  • 120 mlSoy sauce
  • 2 tbspSugar
  • 2 tbspSake
  • 1 tbspSesame oil
  • 1 tspDoubanjiang
  • 3stalks Chopped spring onion
  • 4 cloveGarlic (grated)
  • 3 tbspGround sesame seeds

Steps

  1. 1

    Let the short ribs marinate for 2 hours to half a day. Then all you have to do is cook them on the barbecue grill!

  2. 2

    If you freeze the ribs in the marinade, the frozen pack will act like an ice pack and keep your meat cold on your way to a picnic or camping! (Kill two birds with one stone!)
