Fruit Sando / Fruit Sandwich

#boxweek20 #sandwich

This is Japanese style Sandwich, which is simply seasonal fruits and whipped cream sandwiched between two slices of Japanese Milk Bread.
You can make it simple or artistic, its upto your skills. Generally the fruits are kept in the middle diagonally, so that when it's cut diagonally, the design can appear and hence you always get it in triangular shape.
You will have to think about the design, Orientation before hand and place the fruits accordingly.
Mostly strawberry, kiwi and orange is used for this but I love to use grapes too.
My son loves it, it was he who first introduced me to this super indulging Fruit Sandwich because he was super interested in Japan, he even made me make Sushi
It's usually eaten as breakfast and snacks but I feel it as a #dessert
Here instead of milk bread, I have used Brown bread.
I make it once in a while as a special treat for my son.
You too make on this Rakhi or any day and enjoy with your family and friends.

Steps
- 1
Peel and shape the fruits. I made the orange a little smaller by cutting the sides. Whisk the chilled Whipping cream, when it's still soft add the sugar and whisk till stiff peak forms.
- 2
Trim the edges of the bread. Lay down cling film on the kitchen countertop or on a chopping board. Place your slice on it, first spread thin layer of whipped cream about 1-2 cm and then place your fruits as seen in the picture, diagonally in the centre of the bread, so that when we cut it, the orange looks like flower and the kiwi the stem and leaves. I m not perfect in this art but still try to improve day by day.
- 3
Cover the fruit area with the cream and then put about 1-2 cm cream in and around it. Place another slice on top of it. Scrap and smooth the edges, fill cream where there is gap. Don't press too hard otherwise all cream will come out and you will disturb the orientation of the fruit. Wrap it with cling film and Chill for at least 2-3 hours before cutting. Once chilled and firm, cut it with serrated knife diagonally along with cling film. Take it out from the cling film and serve immediately.

Note : Keep it refrigerated if not consuming immediately.
Today I only made one sandwich with this design hence used one orange and kiwi, another one I just made simple with the leftover fruits, so take fruits as per your need.
3/4 cup Whipping cream is enough for 2 whole sandwiches.
