I really like Bourbon Chicken and you can make this at home in the time it would take to drive and get the carry out. I like spice so I also add a few shakes of more spice seasoning to my pasta.

Ingredients

30 minutes
4-6 servings
  1. This process moves rapidly. If you are serving with rice or noodles get your water boiling and pasta going first
  2. 1 1/2 poundsboneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
  3. 1 1/2 tablespoonscornstarch
  4. 1/4 teaspoonkosher salt
  5. 1/4 teaspoonblack peppper
  6. 1 teaspoonTony Chachere's More Spice Creole Seasoning
  7. 3 tablespoonsvegetable oil, divided
  8. 3 clovesgarlic minced
  9. 1medium onion finely chopped
  10. 1 tablespoonfresh ginger grated
  11. For the Sauce
  12. 3/4 cupchicken broth (low sodium if you have it)
  13. 1/2 cupsoy sauce (lower sodium version if you have it)
  14. 1/4 cupbourbon
  15. 3 tablespoonsapple juice
  16. 2 1/2 tablespoonsketchup
  17. 1 tablespoonrice vinegar
  18. 1/2 cupbrown sugar packed
  19. 1/4 teaspoononion powder
  20. 1/2 teaspoonred pepper flakes
  21. To thicken the sauce
  22. 1 tablespooncornstarch
  23. 1 1/2 tablespoonscold water
  24. Optional Toppings
  25. Green onions, sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

    Add Chicken salt, pepper, Tony Chachere’s seasoning and cornstarch in a bowl or ziplock bag and mix well.

    Combine sauce ingredients in a separate mixing bowl, whisking well. Set aside.

    Add 1 1/2 tablespoons oil to large skillet. Heat oil over medium high heat. Once pan is hot add 1/2 the chicken and cook undisturbed for 3 minutes. Flip chicken over and cook additional 3 minutes. Remove to a plate or bowl and repeat process with remaining chicken. Remove to a bowl.

    Add onion to skillet and cook 3-4 minutes until soft and then add garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant.

    Add sauce to skillet and bring mixture to a low boil. Add chicken to skillet and simmer for 7-10 minutes until sauce is thickening and reducing.

    Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl until the mixture is smooth, then stir into the sauce. Cook a few more minutes until sauce is thickened and coats the back of a spoon.

    Serve over rice or noodles and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

@cindybearcooks thanks Cindy Bear I used Apple whiskey instead of bourbon because you said apple juice anyway my sauce look like yours my wife doesn't like spice so I toned it down a bit and then made my own haha
