Zaatar and cheese croissant

It’s Zaatar day yayyy 🥳🥳 I decided to celebrate this day with a very special breakfast.
Zaatar, cheese or chocolate croissants are found in almost every bakery in Beirut. The croissants are usually prefilled with one of those ingredient then baked.
Since here in the UK I can’t find those prefilled zaatar and cheese croissants, I got plain croissants and made my own 🥰
I mixed zaatar and cheese but you can definitely choose one or the other

Steps
- 1
Mix zaatar and olive oil to get a runny but thick texture
- 2
Slice the croissant in half lengthways. Spread almost one teaspoon of the zaatar mixture on one side and grated cheese on the other side
- 3
Pop in the oven under the grill for a few minutes. (3-5 minutes but keep an eyes o them!! I burnt mine a little bit :/) they’re ready once the cheese melts and the edges or the croissant are golden brown
- 4
Add the vegetables (olives, mint and tomato slices) and enjoyyy! 😋😍
- 5
You can make your own zaatar at home!
