Leucas aspera is reported to have antifungal, prostaglandin inhibitory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antinociceptive and cytotoxic activities. Leucas aspera is used in the traditional medicine of the Philippines to treat snake bites. It is also an antipyretic, it is a herb that has the ability to help reduce fevers. The plant has various medical uses including as a remedy for snake bite and scorpion sting. Thumba leaves are an excellent mosquito repellent. Elders use the juice of thumba leaves with honey as a remedy for indigestion and stomach ache.

Ingredients

3-4 servings
  • 100 mlTamarind juice
  • 1/2 spoonpepper
  • 1/2 spoonjeera
  • 1small pcs of ginger
  • 5-7 clovesgarlic
  • 2tomatoes smashed
  • 50 gmsI took thumbai flowers
  • 100 gmsthumbai leaves
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/2 mustard
  • as per tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    1. In a mud pan oil, mustard, crushed pepper + ginger+ garlic +jeera fry well
    2. Add thumbai leaves
    3. Fry it well, add asafoetida
    4. Add tomatoes
    5. Sauté it until it gets thick paste

    6. Add salt and turmeric
    7. In a bow tamarind juice+ coriander leaves + curry leaves smash by hand well
    8. Add this water in the mud pan
    9 mix well chk salt
    10 once starts boil of the stove (serve it enjoy warmly)

    I didn’t use red chillies (if you like you can) sauté well thumbai leaves well with tomatoes, add the thumbai flowers after off the stove and mix it enjoy the aroma and awesome flavour of rasam
