Ingredients

4 servings
  • 300 gramsGround pork
  • 1/2Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbspSoy sauce
  • 1 tspChinese chicken stock powder
  • 1 dashSalt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 tspGinger (tube type)
  • 1/4 tspGarlic (tube type)
  • 1Egg
  • 100 gramsLeek or Chinese chives (minced)
  • 100 gramsRice (mochi rice if available)
  • 1 dashRed food coloring
  • 1 dashSoy sauce and Japanese mustard

Steps

  1. 1

    Dissolve the red food coloring with some water until it turns to sakura color. Mix together with the rice.

  2. 2

    Mix the ground pork with all the ingredients except for the rice and food coloring.

  3. 3

    Roll the meat into 2~3 cm balls and coat with the sakura-colored rice.

  4. 4

    Steam in a steamer for about 15 minutes. Line the bottom with parchment paper.

  5. 5

    Put the soy sauce and Japanese mustard in the bento box and use on the meatballs just before eating.
