Phulkopir Aloo Dalna

Aloo phulkopir dalna is a very common bengali dish, especially cooked during winter. It is is an authentic dish of bengali cuisine where phulkopi or cauliflower and aloo(potato) are fried in oil and later cooked in mustard paste and tomato-based no onion garlic gravy.
It is mostly served with luchi or paratha.
Phulkopir Aloo Dalna

Steps

Keep the pieces of cauliflower immersed in hot water for 5 minutes,

Strain it, heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok and fry cauliflower florets with potatoes.

Fry them till golden in colour.

Soak the mustard seeds in 1/4 cup of hot water for 30 minutes.

Then make a paste by mixing it with green chili, curd and coconut in a food processor or mixer grinder.

Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan on medium heat and add cumin seeds, green chillies and temper it.

Add grounded mustard paste and tomatoes.

Now add turmeric powder, red chili powder and cook for 7-8 minutes while stirring continuously.

Now add fried cauliflower and potatoes, also add garam masala powder, salt and sugar.

Mix well and add little water and cook covered till soft and dry.

Serve hot phulkopir aloo dalna with paratha.
