Ingredients

  • 100 mlRapeseed oil or soybean oil
  • 2 tablespoonPowdered chilli
  • 1 teaspoonSichuan pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoonsesame oil

Steps

  1. 1

    Place the chilli powder in a heatproof dish.

  2. 2

    When the temperature reaches about 180°C, pour the oil over the chillies.
    The trick is not to heat the chillies, so they don't burn!

  3. 3

    Add the Sichuan pepperr and sesame oil and leave to cool.
    It tastes better if you leave it for at least 2 days.

  4. 4

    I like this chilli for making Chinese Chili Oil.
