It's an Iftaar special street food treat here in Hyderabad during the Holy Month of Ramadan. It's actually a must-have during these days and is relished with any Chutney of one's own choice. And I don't think it's made anywhere else in the country as much as here. One of my family's favourite Chutney is of Mint and Lehsun (Garlic). You can treat your loved ones with any accompaniment as desired. These scrumptious Bondas made with boiled Eggs and Gram Flour are a great way to enjoy Iftaar meals. Not only are they easily done, but they are also absolutely delectable. Everyone will definitely love these delicious Bondas because of their lovely texture and flavour. You can use Anardana or Dry Pomegranate Kernels or even Lemon juice instead of Amchur. It's purely optional and can be skipped if desired.

This Ramadan, I made it in street style with a bit more spices and hence keeping it a bit spicy for our Iftaar party. And for the Children, just skip the additional spices. You are good to go with these lip-smacking Egg Bondas for a delightful Iftaar meal.

Happy Iftaar Time!
Enjoy Frying with Zeen!

Steps

35-40 minutes
  1. 1

Make a thick batter using all the ingredients mentioned for the batter. The use of water depends upon the quality of the Gram Flour or Besan used. Therefore use it accordingly. Meanwhile, boil eggs and cut them into halves. Therefore we get two scrumptious Bondas from one Egg each.

  2. 2

Beat the batter well with a spoon or a whisk so that Gram Flour mixes really well. And fluffy, super spongy Bondas will be the outcome of it. Set aside for 15 minutes. Dip each of the Egg halves into this batter and deep fry a few at a time in hot oil on low to medium-high heat.

  3. 3

Serve them piping hot with Dahi Pudina or any Chutney of your choice. Enjoy! Yum!

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
