Ingredients

  • For Chaat:
  • 21/2 cupsChickpeas
  • 1/2 cupPotatoes
  • 2Tomatoes
  • 1Onion
  • 1/4 cupCoriander leaves
  • 1 tbspChaat masala
  • 1 tspCumin seeds roasted,crushed
  • 1 tspCoriander seeds roasted,crushed
  • 1/2 tbspChilli flakes
  • 1 cupTamarind Pulp
  • 1 tbspDahi bara masala
  • For Bara:
  • 1 cupgram flour
  • 1 tspChilli powder
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbspSoda
  • Salt to taste
  • Other ingredients:
  • 1 cupYoghurt
  • 1/4 cupChilli garlic sauce
  • 1/4 cupTamarind chutney
  • Oil to fry

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak chickpeas overnight.

    Next day,boil chickpeas till tender.

    Boil,peel and cube potatoes.

    Chop all the other vegetables.

    Mix together all the chaat ingredients.

    Mix bara ingredients together.

    Gradually add in water and make a smooth batter.

    Heat oil in a wok.

    Put spoonfuls of batter in oil.

    Fry baras till light golden.

    Soak baras in water for few minutes.

    Whisk yoghurt with water to lessen the thickness.

    Arrange baras in a platter.

    Drizzle some yoghurt over it.

    Add in chaat and remaining yoghurt.

    Drizzle sauce and chutney all over.
