Arhar dal

Pick and rinse the arhar dal very well.

Take a cooker on flame heat ghee add turmeric powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida mix well.

Add finely chopped onion, tomato mix well.

Add dal along with water in pressure cooker.

Add coriander powder, garam masala, amchur powder, salt mix well.

Stir and pressure cook for 4 to 6 whistles till the dal has become completely cooked and is of consistency which can be mashed easily.

If you want a slight sour taste in the d, then add a few drops of lemon juice or 1/2 tsp amchur powder towards the ends.

Serve the arhar dal hot with steamed basmati rice or jeera rice or roti.
