Daleem \ Haleem

This year Ashura fell after weekend means a long weekend and I decided to make Haleem. I like to have with spoon and with naan but due to a lengthy procedure, it always comes last un my list. But this time, I did my grocery before hand and prepared all the things. The good point was when I went for buying daal, I got the packet of mix daal i.e maash, moong, masoor and chana and bought a jau dalia separately.
Haleem process is lengthy but still everyone appreciate it which is the beat reward we can get from the whole day hardwork. I invited my cousins and brothers for haleem last night with our table tennis match. We all enjoyed togethernesses ❤️

Steps
- 1
Soak all the daal for overnight
- 2
Next morning, put all daal in the pot with turmeric powder and cook until it soft and mashed.
- 3
Keep stirring otherwise it will stick ar the bottom of the pot.
- 4
Meanwhile, wash beef chunks and prepare a pit for making quorma. Take a pot and add oil, add onions. Fry till it turns golden
- 5
Then add meat with ginger garlic paste and haleem masala. Pour hot water and cover it. Keep it in medium flame and keep stirring time to time.
- 6
Cook until meat gets soft and quorma is ready.
- 7
Take it out meat in some bowl or plate and start mashing it. I did with mortar.
- 8
Quorma curry without meat transfer to a big pot and add boiled all daal and jau. Start stirring it
- 9
Tip: if you feel your daal is soft but not mashed, put it blender for 5 seconds and take it out or use hand blender and blend it directly in a pot.
Then add shredded meat and start stirring, first with big spatula. Then with start with ghotni. Its a big tool specially designed for haleem to mix with pressure. Add garam masala and salt. - 10
Almost 5-6 hours haleem needs to be cook and do ghotai on medium flame. Do not raise the flame otherwise haleem will stick at the bottom.
- 11
Prepare all the condiments of haleem toppings: chopped coriander, chopped mint, lemon, fried onions, cut chilli, julienne ginger and chaat masala.
- 12
Pour hot oil on the top and sprinkle some onions, ginger and coriander. Serve hot and enjoy 🤗
