Modak is prepared as prasad during Ganesh chaturthi festival. Traditionally it is prepared using the filling of fresh coconut and jaggery wrapped in the rice flour cover and then steamed it. But nowadays we can see different types of modak prepared using different kinds of things.
I have made dry fruit modak which is sugar free. This can be enjoyed by people with sugar and people who are watching their weight. This is a healthy and tasty modak recipe which can be prepared easily and quickly.

  2. 2

Now add raisins and desiccated coconut to the same mixer jar and grind it again. Take out the mixture in a bowl. Now grind dates and add it to the dryfruit mixture. You have to chop the dates before grinding them. Soft dates are easier to use for this recipe.

  3. 3

Now mix everything and add ghee to it. Mix everything well. Now using a modak mould, prepare modak out of this dry fruit mixture. If the mixture is dry and there is a difficulty making modak out of it, you can add little milk to it. If you are using soft dates then you will not need any milk.
