Ingredients

  • For Gravy
  • 2medium Tomatoes
  • 2medium Onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cupMilk 🥛
  • 1/2 teaspoonCumin Seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoonGinger-Garlic Paste
  • 1 teaspoonCoriander Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonRed Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonGaram Masala Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric Powder
  • 1/4 cupthick Curd (yogurt) (not sour)
  • 3/4 cupWater
  • 2 tablespoonsOil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tbspCream
  • Ingredients for Kofta:
  • 1 1/2 cupsgrated Lauki (bottle gourd/ghiya/doodhi)
  • 5 tablespoonsGram Flour
  • 2 tablespoonRice Flour
  • 2 tablespoonsfinely chopped onion 🧅
  • 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoonGinger-Garlic Paste
  • 2 tablespoonsfinely chopped green chillies
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt to taste

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel and grate lauki. Squeeze out the water completely and keep that water for making gravy.

  2. 2

    Take squeezed grated lauki in a large bowl. Add gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, finely chopped green chilli, finely chopped onion and salt.

  3. 3

    Mix all ingredients well. Mixture should have a thick consistency to make round shaped balls. If it is watery then add 1-2 teaspoons gram flour and mix. Do not keep this mixture idle for long time since lauki releases water over time and it will make mixture soggy and you will not be able to make kofta balls.

  4. 4

    Grease your palms with oil and divide mixture into 10 to 12 portions. Take each portion and turn it into round shaped balls.

    Boil tomato and onion in milk till it half dries up then blend it in to a smooth paste

    Heat oil and add the paste in it add all the ingredients in it and bhonify for few minutes add the kofta in curry and add water in it cook covered for 3-4minutes

  7. 7

    Add cream in it and serve with hot chapati
