Poppy Seeds commonly known as Khus Khus is a oilseed obtained from the Opium poppy which is widely used. In Indian cooking khuskhus is one of main spice used for making gravies and curries. The seeds are used whole or grounded into meal as an ingredient.

Soak khuskhus in enough water for 4 to 5 hrs. Drain excess water, transfer in a mixer grinder jar and make paste along with dessicated coconut using very little or no water and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan on medium flame and add onions, saute till it turns golden brown in colour. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 2 to 3 mins.

Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhania jeera powder, salt, mix and cook for a minute.
Now add prepared khus khus paste. Mix well and water. Cook for 2 to 3 mins and then add boiled green peas. Mix well. - 4
Cover and took for 6 to 8 mins on medium flame stirring occasionally. Add chopped fresh green coriander leaves and garam masala. Mix and cook for a minute. Switch off the flame.

Garnish with chopped fresh green coriander leaves and serve hot with roti and rice. Enjoy !!
