Ingredients

Serves 4 to 5 people
  1. 1 1/2 cupschickpea flour (about 200 grams)
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1 teaspoonturmeric powder
  4. 1 teaspoongarlic paste
  5. 1 teaspoonchili powder
  6. 1 pinchasafoetida
  7. 2 teaspoonsoil
  8. Oil as needed for frying
  9. as neededWater
  10. 2dried red chilies
  11. 8-10curry leaves
  12. 1/2 cupplain yogurt (about 120 ml)

    First, sift the chickpea flour. Add salt, turmeric, chili powder, and garlic paste. Mix in water to make a thick batter.

    Heat oil in a pan. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil to make round fritters (pakoras). Fry until golden brown.

    To make the kadhi, sift the chickpea flour again. Whisk in the yogurt and add water to make a thin batter.

    Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a pan. Add asafoetida, garlic paste, chili powder, salt, and curry leaves. Sauté, then add half a cup of water and bring to a boil. Add the chickpea flour and yogurt batter, stirring continuously.

    Add all the pakoras to the kadhi. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring, then turn off the heat.

    Kadhi Pakora Chawal is ready to serve.
