I was stationed in Okinawa Japan. A friend whose wife was Korean brought in short ribs and rice. He let me try it. Oh wonderful. So I worked until I got it right.

Ingredients

1 1/2 hours
3-4 people
  1. 1 packageshort ribs
  2. Soy sauce
  3. 1carrot julienned
  4. 2-3 tablespoonssugar
  5. you can add some Tabasco if you like a little heat

Cooking Instructions

    In a 10 or 12 inch covered skillet pour enough soy sauce to cover bottom of skillet. Add sugar. (Sugar helps tenderize meat. Later you will know if you prefer more or less sugar). Stir and add carrot. Place ribs in skillet and fill pan with enough water to cover ribs.

    Place on stovetop and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cover.
    Simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 hours; turning every 1/2 hour.
    Serve with rice.
    Note: You can make this with chicken thighs instead!

I was making cookies with my mom and sisters starting at 3. At 11 my father taught me to make homemade bread!!! Oh I was hooked. After that we made homemade croissants!! I have been making my own recipes in the Air Force. The pilots make great Guinea pigs..haha. But really they were willing to try everything and give me feedback. I wrote a cookbook and published it at the insistence of MANY Air Force friends and coworkers.
