Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 3/4 cupmasoor dal
  2. 1medium cauliflower
  3. 1medium potato
  4. 1medium onion
  5. 2green chillies
  6. 1large tomato
  7. 1 Tspponch phutan
  8. 1bay leaf
  9. 1 inchdalchini (cinnamon)
  10. 2green cardamoms
  11. 2cloves
  12. 4schezwan peppers (timur seeds)
  13. 1 Tspred chilli powder
  14. 1 Tspdry ginger powder
  15. 1/2 Tspturmeric powder
  16. 1 Tspcoriander powder
  17. 1/2 Tspcumin powder
  18. Salt as required

    First, chop cauliflower, remove skin and chop the potato, wash and half boil them in microwave or normal pot.

    Pressure cook (don't soak) the masoor dal after washing 2-3 times. Use one and half cup of water. Set aside.

    Heat oil, add the bay leaf, all garam masala ingredients mentioned, and lastly timur seeds on low heat.

    When the masala sizzles, add chopped onion and fry them. Add green chillies and chopped tomatoes.

    Further add turmeric, salt, dry ginger powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and cook the masala till tomatoes are soft and mushy.

    Add the boiled dal and vegetables to the masala. Bring to boil for two minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander. Serve alongside green mango chutney and steamed hot rice.
