Orange marble cake made with orange and cocoa powder offers 2 very different types of sweetness with a refreshing taste. This cake is also served as a teatime snack with a hot or cold drink.
Steps
- 1
Make 1 cup juice from 3-4 medium size oranges.
- 2
Add all the dry ingredients - if using whole wheat flour, sift it twice. Then sift baking powder, baking soda, salt, custard powder and mix it.
In another bowl, mix well oil and sugar. Add 1 cup orange juice and mix well. (If using all-purpose flour, then pour only ¾ cup juice.) - 3
Now mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Add orange zest. Mix well slowly in one direction to make the batter a smooth consistency.
- 4
Divide the batter into 2 parts, add cocoa powder to one part and mix well. Then add choco chips and mix. If you want you can add choco chips to the orange batter instead of the cocoa batter.
- 5
Preheat the pan on high flame for 5 minutes.
Place butter paper in a cake tin and grease the inside with butter or oil. Line your prepared cake tin with the orange and cocoa batter, alternately adding large spoonful of the orange batter to the center of the pan followed by spoonful of the cocoa batter and repeat so on. - 6
Use a toothpick or knife to swirl it over the cake. Double Tap the cake tin to remove air bubbles and place on a stand kept inside preheated pan. Cover and bake on low flame for 40-45 minutes.
If baking in the oven, bake in a preheated oven at 180 C (350 F) for 30-35 minutes. - 7
Check with a toothpick or knife whether cake is fully baked. Cool the cake completely, then remove it from the cake tin.
- 8
Cut in desire shape and enjoy orange marble cake-
crispy on outside and moist from inside. - 9
Chocolate & fresh orange taste gives the cake unique and refreshing flavour.
