Steps
- 1
Stir yeast into the warm water until it dissolves.
- 2
Add egg, salt and flour. Combine everything until you have a dough.
- 3
Let the dough rise for at least 40 minutes covered by a towel.
- 4
Put the oven on the highest heating setting. 300°c is optimal (but 275°c/250°c works too).
- 5
Dust flour onto a baking sheet and pour the risen dough onto the sheet.
- 6
Cut the dough into two equal pieces and gently twist and form each piece of dough into a baguette. It does not have to look perfect.
- 7
Fill a cup with 0.5 dl of water and pour the water into the bottom of the hot oven. Close the oven door, wait 15 seconds and then put the baking sheet with the baguettes into the oven. (This creates steam to give the baguettes a nice crust).
- 8
Bake for 5 minutes. Then lower the heat to 200°c and let them bake for 15 minutes.
- 9
Remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet. Slice and serve with toppings of your choice.
