Pisang Goreng (Banana fritters)

My childhood snack. I thought you'd need a specific type of banana but I used Cavendish here and it worked perfectly. Make sure the bananas are not overripe. It won't hold well in the batter and kinda gets drown when fried.

My childhood snack. I thought you'd need a specific type of banana but I used Cavendish here and it worked perfectly. Make sure the bananas are not overripe. It won't hold well in the batter and kinda gets drown when fried.
Steps
- 1
Cut the bananas half horizontally and half vertically.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, add in flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and water. Mix.
- 3
In a small pot, add enough oil for a thorough frying.
- 4
Coat bananas in the batter.
- 5
Fry them in small batches. The reason I prefer a small pot is because I use less oil and give me more control in swirling the bananas around. They cook very quickly 60 seconds tops, so each batch wouldn't take long.
- 6
When golden brown, remove and rest in a rack. Serve warm with or without sugar/vanilla ice cream.
