Steps
- 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Clean and wash them thoroughly.
- 2
Pick the tender stems and leaves from the Thai basil. Trim the shrimp by removing the heads, antennae, legs, and devein. Rinse the shrimp again after cleaning.
- 3
Heat a pot over low heat. Add the seasoning oil packet from the instant noodles and stir to combine. Add the shrimp and pan-fry on both sides until they turn red and curl up, then remove from the pot and set aside.
- 4
Add the laksa paste to the pot and stir-fry until fragrant.
- 5
Add the water and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 6
Add the fish balls (or meat balls), tofu, and bean sprouts. Cook until the balls float to the surface.
- 7
Add the instant noodles.
- 8
Add about 1/3 of the seasoning powder packet from the instant noodles.
- 9
Cook until the noodles loosen, then add the cooked shrimp and Thai basil. Stir briefly and turn off the heat.
- 10
Serve in a bowl (or bring the whole pot to the table).

Notes:
1. This recipe serves one. To make more servings, multiply the ingredients accordingly.
