While I was drinking some store-bought brown sugar ginger drink, I wondered if I could make it easily at home.
I remembered my grandma used to make me a kind of sticky, syrup sweet made with katakuriko and sugar, so I tried adding some katakuriko.

Use boiling hot water.
Adjust the sweetness to taste. Start with 2 teaspoons of sugar.
I recommend using 2 heaping teaspoons of katakuriko to start. Add more to taste. For 1 serving. Recipe by Momopanda

  1. 1 tspplus Grated ginger
  2. 3heaping teaspoons Katakuriko
  3. 2 tspplus Brown sugar
  4. 1 tbspWater
  5. 120 mlBoiling water

Steps

    Use small teacups or mugs.

    Add about 1 heaping teaspoon of katakuriko. 2 heaping teaspoons become thick like Step 7. 3 heaping teaspoons results in a sticky mixture.

    Add brown sugar and ginger.

    Add the water and dissolve.

    Add the boiling water and mix with a spoon. You may be concerned that it won't thicken at this point. Don't worry, it will.

    Mix well for 10 seconds, and it will thicken and become syrupy. Done! If it doesn't thicken though, microwave for 30 seconds until it become syrupy.

    If you add 2 heaping teaspoons of katakuriko, it'll become thick enough to eat with a spoon.

    With 3 heaping teaspoons, it'll become like a hot ginger dessert.
