Pape’s Saucy Onion Gravy

Here’s one thing I’ve enjoyed eating during my stay in Italy, especially prepared by my dear Senegalese friend that I could not help but plead for a recipe before my return to Malawi. This will be my household’s staple and I’m not ashamed to steal it 😂
I previously could not stomach onions. I hated the stench and my belief that they’d cause me digestive distress and a gas party. However, I fell in love with this recipe as it tones down the natural onion taste. That way it doesn’t stay on you for too long. I specifically enjoy eating it with roast chicken and bread Oh La La 👌🏽

Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water and set aside

In a skillet heat up oil and saute onions, ginger powder, and bell peppers until tender

Stir flour into the onions until incorporated. Gradually add the bouillon solution while stirring so it doesn’t form lumps

Season with salt and pepper. Let boil to cook down until sauce is thickened
