Quick and Simple Microwave Mochi Gratin

We make this in a large quantity for New Years and share it.
I thought of this as a way to use up white mochi, and ever since, this dish has been a major dish in our household.
For our microwave, 2 1/2-3 minutes at 500 W is just about right, but you may want to adjust accordingly to your household's microwave. For 1 serving. Recipe by MyT09

Steps
- 1
Cut the onions and bacon into thin strips. Add to a heat-resistant container with the onions on the bottom and the bacon on top.
- 2
Cut the mochi into bite-sized cubes, and place on top. Pour in a little soy sauce and flavor with black pepper.
- 3
Place the cheese on top and cover with plastic wrap. Poke a number of small holes in the plastic wrap.
- 4
Microwave at 500 W for 2 1/2-3 minutes and it's complete!! Top with parsley, if you like.
- 5
If you have time, fry the bacon and onions first, then after microwaving, bake in the oven to melt the cheese. This is really good.
