Ingredients

3-4 servings
  1. 2 headslittle Gem lettuce or Butter lettuce, leaves separated, washed and patted dry
  2. 14 ozextra firm tofu, grated
  3. 1 tbspextra virgin olive oil
  4. 1/4sweet onion, chopped
  5. 2 clovesgarlic, minced
  6. 1in fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  7. 1/4-1/3 cfresh cilantro, chopped
  8. 1small carrot, grated
  9. Sesame seeds
  10. Sauce:
  11. 1/4 ctamari or soy sauce
  12. 1lime, zest and juice
  13. 1 tspSriracha sauce
  14. 1 tbspmirin
  15. 1 tbspmaple syrup
  16. 1 tspchili onion crunch

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Heat olive oil in a saute pan. Saute onions

  2. 2

    Grate tofu into the saute pan. Salt and pepper if desired. Stir and saute until lightly browned.

  3. 3

    Stir in ginger and garlic. Saute until gently cooked, 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add sauce to saute pan and mix with tofu mixture until well combined.

  5. 5

    Take tofu mixture off the heat. Add cilantro and grated carrot. Combine well.

  6. 6

    Arrange washed lettuce leaves on a serving plate. Fill with tofu mixture. Sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds and serve.

    Serves 3 lunch servings or 4 appetizer servings.
