Steps
- 1
Firstly, assemble all the ingredients required to make “Coffee Custard Trifle”. In a small bowl add 100 ml milk and 2 tablespoon of custard powder and mix it well. Set it aside.
- 2
To prepare the custard, add 400 ml milk in a pan. When the milk becomes warm, add the sugar and mix it.
- 3
When the milk comes to a boil, reduce the flame to low.
- 4
Add the custard mix slowly, mixing it simultaneously and continuously, so that no lumps are formed.Cook only for 2-3 minutes till it becomes thick. Custard is ready. Switch off the flame and set it aside to cool down.
- 5
Next to prepare the rich cold coffee, in a small bowl add the lukewarm milk and coffee powder and and mix it well. Add the condensed milk and mix it well. Set it aside.
- 6
- 7
To assemble the dessert, take a glass tray. The first layer is the biscuit layer. Dip each marie biscuit in the prepared rich cold coffee and arrange it in the glass tray. The biscuit will absorb the coffee and it will enhance the taste of the dessert.
- 8
Spread half of the prepared custard over the biscuit layer. The custard should be at room temperature. Over the custard layer, put another layer of marie biscuits, dipped in the rich cold coffee. (This step is optional). Spread the remaining custard over the biscuit layer. Cover with a cling wrap and keep it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes, to set.
- 9
- 10
Finally, to prepare the cream layer, in a cold deep container, add the cream and whip for 30 second so that the cream becomes thick. Add the condensed milk and whip for few seconds. Next mix the coffee powder in milk and add it to the cream and whip for 30 seconds. The consistency of the cream should be pouring. Not too thin and not too thick, so add the milk accordingly.
- 11
- 12
Layer the cream over the custard layer. Once again cover with a cling wrap and keep it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes, to set.
- 13
For the topping, add grated or chopped Cadbury Bournville Fruit and Nut or simply dust with coffee powder or drizzle some melted chocolate.
- 14
Crown it with a generous amount of chocolate, if you are a chocolate lover.
- 15
Coffee Custard Trifle is ready. Cover it with a cling wrap and keep it in the fridge for 2 hours, to set. Its taste is better when chilled before serving.
- 16
After the set time, serve and enjoy it chilled.
- 17
Coffee Custard Trifle, a light and refreshing dessert is ready. Serve and Enjoy!!
