I wanted to make something unusual using my favorite chikuwa.

Slice the chikuwa lengthwise into fourths. Roll them up and secure with a toothpick. Do the same with the others. You can make 2 toothpicks worth with a single chikuwa.

Squeeze out a few centimeters of mayonnaise into an unheated pan. Dab onto both sides of the chikuwa. Sprinkle grated cheese onto both sides as well. Turn the heat on, and pan-fry both sides.

Voila Also good to pack in bentos.

Here's what it looks like if you roll them up with the white part inside. Either way is fine.
