There are so many gateau au chocolat recipes, but I wanted an easy recipe without using the oven. I finally arrived at this recipe after many failures. It's not too fluffy and not too moist. It's so good that I can't even believe it was microwaved.

Don't whisk the pancake mix, but make sure to mix well so that the mixture is not lumpy. For 2 servings. Recipe by Maiyochi mama

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 5 tbspHot chocolate mix
  2. 4 tbspPancake mix
  3. 1Egg
  4. 15 gramsButter
  5. 1 dashVegetable oil
  6. 1 dashPowdered sugar
  7. 5 tbspLukewarm water

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

These are the main ingredients. I used this size heatproof container.

  2. 2

Place the butter in the heatproof container, and microwave for 20 seconds at 500 W to melt.

  3. 3

Dissolve the instant cocoa mix in the lukewarm water in a bowl. Add the melted butter and beaten egg in that order, and mix well.

  4. 4

Grease the container with vegetable oil using a brush or a paper towel

  5. 5

Add the pancake mix into the bowl and mix well so that the mixture is not lumpy.

  6. 6

Pour the mixture into the container, and tap it on the counter several times to remove air.

  7. 7

Microwave it for 2.5 minutes at 500 W.

  8. 8

This is right after microwaving. Remove from the microwave, and let it cool.

  9. 9

When it's cooled, it shrinks a little bit.

  10. 10

Chill in the fridge for 2-3 hours, sprinkle on powdered sugar, and it's done.
