Best Homemade Onion Rings I ever made. Made the house smell like a carnival with onion rings, french fries, and hamburgers. Me and my Dad getting ready for the playoff games.

Ingredients

  1. Dredge
  2. 1/3 cupcornstarch
  3. 1/3 cupall purpose flour
  4. 2 teaspoonsseasoned salt
  5. Batter
  6. 1 cupself rising flour
  7. 2 teaspoonsseasoned salt
  8. 1-1/2 cupswater
  9. Onion
  10. 1large white onion

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Carefully peel and slice the onion. Try and cut evenly all the way across to keep an evenness. Add the cornstarch, flour, and seasoned salt to a Ziploc bag. Shake it till the seasoned salt isn't visible as much.

  2. 2

Add the onion slices, I cut some crooked and became half moons. Close the bag and shake it coat every one of the onion pieces. This is super important part. If it isn't coated the batter will not stick.

  3. 3

Mix the batter ingredients of water, self rising flour, and seasoned salt. When you see the bubbles form it's ready for dipping. Shake the excessive dredge mixture off the onion pieces, and add to the batter.

  4. 4

Heat the oil. Let the onion pieces rest in the batter for 10 minutes. Fry in small batches. This allows you to turn the rings easily. Fry till lightly golden brown. Move to a paper towel to absorb excessive amounts of oil.

  5. 5

    Repeat till done.

  6. 6

    Serve I hope you enjoy!!!
