This is an easy yet authentic taiyaki recipe that uses just three ingredients.

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix until smooth with no lumps.

Preheat the taiyaki maker and lightly coat it with vegetable oil (not included in ingredient list).

Spoon the batter into the mold, filling it about 60% full and spreading it evenly.

Add your choice of sweet red bean paste or custard in the center.

Pour more batter over the filling until it is just covered, close the lid, and cook for 4–5 minutes.

When the taiyaki turns golden brown, it's ready!
