Cooking Instructions
- 1
Slice the onion. Adding garlic is also delicious if you like.
- 2
In a frying pan, add olive oil and onion, and sauté until soft. Sprinkle with about 2 pinches of salt.
- 3
Add the canned tomatoes, canned mackerel with its liquid, bouillon, and ketchup, and simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes. If the liquid starts to splatter, reduce to low heat.
- 4
The liquid will reduce slightly. Add whole grain mustard and black pepper, simmer for about 1 minute, then turn off the heat.
- 5
You can either break up the mackerel at the end or leave it in chunks, as you prefer.
- 6
Serve. It's delicious as is, but you can sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese for an Italian touch.
- 7
For a more adult taste, mix in olives or top with herbs like thyme or basil for added flavor.
- 8
Use domestic canned mackerel if possible. The one used here is 190g.
- 9
This option is more affordable but still turned out delicious.
- 10
It's surprisingly tasty even cold the next day if you have leftovers.
- 11
You can also use canned sardines or canned pilchards in water for a delicious result.

Canned Sardines in Tomato Sauce with Quick Pickled Red Onions Canned Sardines in Tomato Sauce with Quick Pickled Red Onions
Another thing we sometimes like to enjoy with our wine and cheese lunches is a can of sardines in tomato sauce topped with quickled red onions.A little bit of mayo spread on a slice of baguette and topped with some sardine and onions is lovely with a bit of bubbly or a crisp white or rosé.Excess onions are a great pickle to enjoy with the salumi or charcuterie, too. x -
Easy and Authentic Pasta in Tuna Tomato Sauce Easy and Authentic Pasta in Tuna Tomato Sauce
I don't like the flavor of tomato that much, but I love this pasta sauce. Each time I make this, I'm impressed every time that this flavor can be achieved in such a short time. The amount of salt to add depends on how much bacon you add, so taste before salting. The sauce will thin out a bit when you add the pasta, so season it generously. For 2 servings. Recipe by classy cookpad.japan -
Delicious and Multi-Purpose Tomato Sauce Delicious and Multi-Purpose Tomato Sauce
I love Chef Mamoru Kataoka's recipe and read that he sweats onions slowly for 1 hour. Up until then I made tomato sauce without cooking the onion for that long, but I tried it and I was struck by the difference in the depth of flavor of the sauce. If you sauté the onion slowly until a lot of flavor seeps out, you can make a delicious sauce without having to add a soup stock cube.Stirring the pot slowly while you're surrounded by the fragrance of the onion is a nice experience. Pasta with Tuna and Tomato Sauce Pasta with Tuna and Tomato Sauce
I came up with this recipe after much thought. Tomato sauce is just not enough, but if you add some heavy cream, it is so delicious. For the tomato sauce I usedDuring Step 2, you can simmer over medium heat for about 8-10 minutes. If you can't make the sauce at the same time as the pasta, add some hot salt water to the sauce pan instead.-You can use just the tomatoes and tuna.-You can serve 2~3 people if you use a lot of sauce. Linguini with fresh Tomato Sauce (Makaronia Me Tomata Salsa) Linguini with fresh Tomato Sauce (Makaronia Me Tomata Salsa)
This recipe has been sitting in my draft box for a while now, but for some reason I really never got around to making it. Today, it’s very cold and at the moment it’s snowing and I don’t want to make soup, so I decided on this delicious pasta dish which will work just fine. New Year Eve seems to getting closer, and I still haven’t planned out the New Year Eve Menu not really sure what it is I want to make 😦 but one thing I do know for sure is we will be making the classic Greek Cake Vasilopita.During the holidays we tend to make too much food and this means too many leftovers. This year there was wayyy to much leftovers than previous years, the reason as you all know was due to the fact of the passing of our dog Marka, no one really had a appetite for eating big…:( Life must go on and so it will as the New Year approaches.I hope you enjoy this delicious pasta dish not to many ingredients and very quick to make. 🙂 Foodzesty -
Simple Tomato Sauce Simple Tomato Sauce
I thought of a simple tomato sauce that would work well with all kinds of cooking.*If you don't have a blender, you can use canned chopped tomatoes. *If you're using fresh tomatoes, chop them up and then heat them in the microwave (I cooked 3 tomatoes for 5 minutes). Please simmer them after blending. If you want to preserve the fresh taste of the tomatoes, then you don't have to add them to the blender. Recipe by Yuuyuu0221 cookpad.japan -
