Ingredients

Serves 1 serving
  • 1 1/2 cupscooked rice (about 250g)
  • 1.75 ozpork (about 50g, pork belly recommended)
  • 1egg
  • 3–4 stalks green onions (scallions)
  • 2 tablespoonsJapanese BBQ sauce (yakiniku sauce)
  • About 1 teaspoon gochujang (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoonsesame oil

Steps

    Seasonings used:

    ◆ Japanese BBQ sauce (yakiniku sauce)
    ◆ Sesame oil
    ◆ Gochujang (optional)

    If the rice is cold, warm it up a little.

    Cut the pork into bite-sized pieces.

    Lightly beat the egg.

    Slice the green onions thinly.

    Mix the rice with the BBQ sauce and gochujang.

    Heat a frying pan to 355°F (180°C), add the pork, and cook until done. Transfer the pork to a plate.

    *No oil needed!

    Add the sesame oil to the pan (355–375°F / 180–190°C), then spread the rice mixture evenly in the pan.

    Let it cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes to get a crispy bottom.

    Once the rice is nicely browned, return the pork to the pan.

    Push the rice to the side, pour the beaten egg into the empty space.

    Quickly scramble the egg, then mix it into the rice.

    Add the green onions and stir-fry everything together until well combined.

    Taste and, if needed, add 1–2 more teaspoons of BBQ sauce (not included in ingredient list).

    It's ready to serve!
