Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  1. 4 piecesmochi rice cakes
  2. 1/2 bunchkomatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) or substitute with spinach
  3. as neededKatsuobushi (dried bonito flakes),
  4. 1 2/3 cupswater (400 ml)
  5. 2 teaspoonsgranulated dashi (bonito soup stock)
  6. 2 teaspoonssoy sauce
  7. 1 pinchsalt

Steps

    Add the water, dashi, and soy sauce to a pot and bring to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add the mochi and komatsuna to the pot. Simmer until the mochi is soft. Adjust the flavor with salt.

  3. 3

    Serve in bowls and sprinkle with katsuobushi.
