Steps
- 1
Rinse the rice and drain well.
- 2
Add the amount of water for the porridge consistency you want. If you have time, let the rice soak in the water for 20 minutes to 1 hour. In summer, soak it in the refrigerator.
- 3
Cook using the porridge setting on your rice cooker. For soft rice, use the regular rice setting.
- 4
After cooking, stir the porridge and let it sit for about 5 minutes. This helps the moisture settle evenly.
- 5
Once cooled, transfer to containers and freeze. When ready to eat, reheat thoroughly in the microwave.
- 6
Note: When stirring in step 4, mix by cutting through the porridge rather than kneading, or it will get gluey!
- 7
With the 3:1 porridge, you can make about four portions of 2.5–2.8 oz (70–80 g) each. Freezing portions is super convenient for busy days!
