Easy Crispy Pan-Fried Dumplings Using Store-Bought Frozen Dumplings

This recipe is super easy because you just pan-fry store-bought frozen dumplings!
These dumplings have chewy wrappers, so you get both a chewy and crispy texture at the same time.
Recipe background:
At some Chinese restaurants, when you order pan-fried dumplings, they use the same dumplings as for boiled ones and just pan-fry them, right?
They're so delicious!
These dumplings don't have garlic, and I like to serve them with julienned ginger.
Making dumplings from scratch is a hassle, so I use store-bought ones for this recipe. The texture comes out just right!

Steps
- 1
Here are the dumplings I used.
Feel free to use your favorite brand or type.
- 2
In a cold skillet, add the vegetable oil and arrange the frozen dumplings in a single layer.
Pour in the water, cover with a lid, and turn the heat to medium-high.
- 3
If you're making a larger batch, add enough water so the dumplings are about 1/3 submerged.
Ideally, the number of dumplings should match the size of your skillet.
- 4
When the sound changes from bubbling to crackling, carefully lift the lid and check. If the water has evaporated, drizzle the sesame oil around the dumplings.
- 5
Cover again and cook until the bottoms are golden brown and crispy.
I served them hot in a preheated cast iron skillet this time.
- 6
These dumplings don't contain garlic, so for toppings I used fried garlic and sliced green onions.
- 7
My husband likes them with store-bought dumpling sauce and julienned ginger.
- 8
I like them with balsamic vinegar and julienned ginger.
