Satsuma-age (fried fish cakes) and gobomaki (burdock root rolls) are always left over. Changing up their presentation was a big hit!

  1. As neededOden fish cakes for tamagoyaki
  2. 2large eggs
  3. About 3 green beans
  4. 1 teaspoon (5 ml)mentsuyu (noodle soup base)
  5. 1 teaspoon (5 ml)mirin
  6. As neededOden fish cakes for mixed sushi
  7. 2 bowlscooked rice (about 2 cups/320 grams)
  8. 2–3 green beans
  9. As neededpickled ginger (beni shoga)
  10. As neededsesame seeds
  11. Nori (seaweed)
  12. As neededsushi vinegar

    How to make tamagoyaki: Finely chop the fish cakes and green beans. Add the seasonings and chopped ingredients to the eggs, then cook as a rolled omelet.

    Next, make the mixed sushi. Finely chop the fish cakes and green beans. Mix sushi vinegar and sesame seeds into the rice.

  3. 3

    Add the chopped ingredients to the seasoned rice, then top with pickled ginger and nori.
