Today I have made a bengali style banana flower sabji, mochar ghonto. It's traditional bengali recipe. It is time consuming to make but very delicious. I think It's a favourite dish of many bengalis.

Today I have made a bengali style banana flower sabji, mochar ghonto. It's traditional bengali recipe. It is time consuming to make but very delicious. I think It's a favourite dish of many bengalis.

First grease your palm with oil then extract the florets from the banana flower (mocha). As shown in fig. Remove the black long stem-like part from each floret. It is hard part of the flower which is too hard to boil and difficult to digest. Then wash and chop the florets and boil with turmeric powder, little salt. Boil till they become soft, keep aside after boiling.

Heat oil and ghee add cubed potato and fry them nicely, keep aside. Then same kadai temper with cumin seeds, bay leaves, whole garam masala saute few seconds then add chopped green chilli, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, ginger paste, salt mix it well and cook for 5-6 minutes.

Now add boiled mocha and cook on low heat some times. Once mixture dry up then add fresh crushed coconut, mix it properly and cook another 4-5 minutes.

Now add fried potato pieces and boiled chana, mix it and cook on low heat lastly add ghee, garam masala, sugar, mix everything properly and cook 5 minutes, cover it and turn off the flame. Banana Flower Sabji (Mochar Ghonto) is ready.
