We get our daily quota of vitamins through food. It's important to have an all round diet which ensures that we get all the required vitamins. They ensure proper development and maintenance of all body parts, help us to fight diseases, ensure absorption of all the nutrients and help in development of vital organs. This recipe has lentils which have all the vitamins of B family, carrots which are good source of vitamin A and also minerals and Methi which is rich in vitamin K, C and A. Try this healthy recipe.

Ingredients

25 minutes
4 servings
  • 1/2 cuprice flour
  • 1/2 cupbesan
  • 1/2 cupmoong dal flour
  • 1/2 cupsemolina
  • 1 cupthick curd
  • 1 teaspoonsalt
  • 1 teaspoonsugar
  • 1/4 teaspoonbaking soda
  • 2chopped green chillies
  • 1 teaspoonginger garlic paste
  • 1 cupwashed, chopped methi leaves
  • 1medium carrot, washed, peeled and grated
  • 1 teaspoonlemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoonred chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspooncrushed cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspooncooking oil per appe

Steps

25 minutes
  1. 1

    First, take a large bowl. Mix in all the ingredients except lemon juice, sugar and baking soda.

    Add water and whisk to a thick batter. Then add lemon juice, sugar and baking soda. Mix well.

    Heat the appe pan over medium heat. Then fill each mold with the prepared batter with a spoon.

    Add oil around the edges (1 teaspoon for each appe mold). Cover and cook. Flip the sides and cook from the base too.

    Remove and serve hot with your choice of dip, Chutney, yoghurt, stew or ketchup.
