Miso Pork Yaki Udon: Lunch or Bento

Do you have an extra pack of frozen udon? While it's microwaving, mix the noodles with a butter-infused meat sauce for a super tasty yaki udon. I often make this for my family's late-night snack, a meal before tutoring, or a solo lunch, and it's always a hit. It's also great for bento boxes. It tastes good even when cold, and reheating it in the microwave is highly recommended. It's easy to make, so why not give it a try? My family isn't fond of regular yakiniku sauce, but they love this miso and butter sauce. When the yaki udon is slightly charred, it disappears quickly. Ingredients

  • 1 packfrozen udon noodles
  • 1.8 ozpork belly
  • 1 teaspooncornstarch
  • 1 teaspoonrice oil
  • 1/4onion
  • 1/2 teaspoonmiso
  • 1 tablespoonyakiniku sauce
  • 1 1/4 inchesgarlic paste
  • 0.18 ozbutter
  • 1small amount of green onions (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    Microwave the frozen udon noodles to thaw. In a cold frying pan, add pork belly and cornstarch, and mix well. Add rice oil, then turn on the heat.

    When the meat starts to change color, add the thinly sliced onion and sauté. Once the onion softens, turn off the heat and add the ingredients marked with ※ to the side of the pan. Mix well, then turn the heat back on.

    Add the udon noodles and mix everything together. It's ready to serve! You can sprinkle some green onions on top if you like.
