Urad Dal Vada, also known as Biuli Dal Er Boda in Bengali, is a famous street food of Kolkata. This Vada is made with a thick mixture of grounded urad dal, sooji, chillies, onions and other tasty spices. Sooji is added to make the vada more crispy. For quick snacks in evening with tea or coffee, this boda is very easy to made.

Urad Dal Vada, also known as Biuli Dal Er Boda in Bengali, is a famous street food of Kolkata. This Vada is made with a thick mixture of grounded urad dal, sooji, chillies, onions and other tasty spices. Sooji is added to make the vada more crispy. For quick snacks in evening with tea or coffee, this boda is very easy to made.

Wash and soak 1 ½ cup Urad dal in enough water for about 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Drain all the water from soaked dal and grind with very little water in a mixer grinder.

The batter must be thick coarsely and not too smooth. Then add chopped onion, chopped curry leaves, chopped green chili, semolina and salt in the batter and mix it very well.

Heat the oil in Kadai on medium flame. Once the oil is hot, drop the batter with the help of your fingers or spoon one after another.

For smooth dropping each time dip spoon in water then take a spoonful of batter and drop the batter in hot oil. Deep fry on medium low heat on both sides about 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown.

Remove fried vada on tissue paper to absorbed oil. Similarly fry remaining all vadas. Immediately serve hot urad vada with chutneys or sauces.
