Sprinkle the mackerel with salt. Heat some olive oil in a frying pan and cook the fillets for 3-5 minutes on each side.

While the mackerel is cooking, grate the onion and garlic into a bowl and mix with the soy sauce.

When one side of the mackerel has cooked (3-5 minutes), turn and fry the other side on the same heat for another 3-5 minutes.

When the mackerel is golden and crispy, add the onion sauce to the pan with the fish and cook for few minutes.

Serve, garnishing with chopped green onion.
