Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  1. 1large loaf of stale sandwich bread
  2. 2eggs
  3. 1 1/4 cupsmilk (about 300 ml)
  4. 1/4 cupgranulated sugar (about 50 grams) + extra for sprinkling
  5. 8 piecesdark chocolate, 3 squares each
  6. butter or oil of your choice

Cooking Instructions

    Cut the sandwich bread into 8 equal slices.

    Make a hole on the crust side and push through to the other side. Insert a chocolate bar into the hole.

    Mix the eggs, milk, and 1/4 cup sugar. Soak the bread slices in the mixture for about 15 seconds on each side.

    Melt the butter in a skillet and cook the bread until golden brown on both sides.

    Sprinkle with sugar and serve immediately.

    You can substitute the ingredients as you like. Here, I used spelt milk and margarine (I'm lactose intolerant), but any other plant-based milk can work.
