I got the idea from you, HobbyHorseman—thank you! For Earth Day, I wanted to avoid eating meat, so this fried mushroom dish is a great option. I fried the mushrooms and added a sauce inside to make it easier for my mother to eat.

Creating a unique vegetarian dish with mushrooms gives you a crispy bite just like fried meat. If you want to add a sweet and spicy sauce, it also makes a delicious savory dish.

Ingredients

6 mushroom patties
  1. 1 bunchenoki mushrooms
  2. Seasoning for mushrooms
  3. 2 teaspoonssugar
  4. 1 teaspoonvegetarian seasoning powder
  5. 2 tablespoonsall-purpose flour
  6. Fried garlic, black pepper
  7. Sauce
  8. 1 tablespoonvegetarian mushroom oyster sauce
  9. 1 tablespoonsoy sauce
  10. 1 tablespoonsesame oil
  11. 1 tablespoonchili sauce
  12. 2 teaspoonsfive-spice powder

Steps

60 minutes

    Rinse the mushrooms with salted water, squeeze out excess water, trim off the roots, and cut into pieces. Mash the mushrooms, then mix in the seasonings listed above until well combined.

    Let the mushrooms rest for 10 minutes, then shape them into balls. Fry until golden brown on both sides. You can enjoy these as crispy fried mushrooms at this stage.

    For the sauce: Mix all the sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Adjust seasoning to taste, then add the mushroom balls and stir so they absorb the sauce. Remove and sprinkle with black pepper.

    Serve the braised mushrooms with pickled vegetables or fresh greens.
