Wash and soak chana dal in slightly hot water for 30 minutes. Peel and cut bottle gourd pieces into medium size and keep it in water.

In a pressure cooker, add oil and heat it then add cumin seeds, asafoetida, dried red chillies, cinnamon stick and sweet curry leaves. Saute for a minute.

Now add tomatoes and saute till it becomes slightly soft. Then lower the gas flame and add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander cumin powder and salt. Mix very well.

Then add bottle gourd pieces and soaked split chana dal. Saute it for 2-3 minutes. Then add water and mix very well. Cover the cooker with a lid. Cook on medium heat for 5 whistles.

Let the pressure go down by itself then open the lid.
Then add garam masala and jaggery. Mix very well and cook for a one minute. - 7
Now switch off the gas flame. Then add lemon juice and finely chopped green coriander leaves.

Now our very delicious and yummy Lauki Chana Dal Sabji is ready for serve. Serve this sabji with roti or rice.
