Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 poundsred beans (about 500 grams)
  • 1 cupJob’s tears (about 240 grams)
  • 4 tablespoonsdark brown sugar

Steps

    Rinse the red beans and Job’s tears thoroughly. Add them to the pressure cooker and fill with water up to the cooker’s water line. Cook under pressure for 25 minutes, then turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally for about 30 minutes, until both the Job’s tears and red beans are fully cooked and tender.

    Add more water if desired, depending on how thick you want the soup. Bring the soup back to a boil on the stove, then it’s ready to serve. For storing brown sugar, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The two-stage pressure cooking makes the beans soft and creamy with minimal effort.

    Let the sweet soup cool slightly, then portion it into airtight containers and refrigerate. This makes a nutritious and healthy summer snack.
