Take red rice powder into a mixer bowl add salt, and mix well. Keep aside.

Now sprinkle some water, mix nicely with your fingertips.To get soft puttu, the amount of rice flour and water is important.To check that, gently press a small portion of the flour between your palm. It should form a lump.When you press this flour lump more, then it breaks and crumbles. This should be the perfect texture of the puttu flour.

Mix well the puttu flour without any lumps. Break if any tiny lumbs in the flour with your fingertips.Now take a puttu maker, add two table fresh grated coconut spread evenly.Then gently add the puttu flour till it reaches half, again add grated coconut and puttu flour.

Close the puttu maker lid and keep it in the steamer for five minutes.Then remove the steamed puttu. Tasty and soft puttu is ready now.Serve the puttu hot with kadalai curry.
