This is very famous sweet in andhra ,were people make with some variations .I tried making the sweet shells using wheat flour in suggestion of my aunt .She says wheat is more healthier than maida .Even here I have used sugar syrup but more healthy is jaggery. We can make using jaggery syrup also.
Steps
- 1
Take wheat flour in bowl.Add melted ghee to it.Mix well with hand.Add pinch of salt.Make it into crumble.
- 2
Add water to the flour and mix into tight dough.Keep it covered for 10 mins.
- 3
Make small balls of the dough. We have small wooden piece with straight grooves on it.This is used to make the shape of shell.
- 4
Then place the dough ball on it and press it slightly with the thumb to make the shape of shell.
- 5
Repeat the process with remaining dough.
- 6
Shells look like this, once all the shells are ready to fry, then put pan for deep frying.
- 7
Heat the oil in frying pan.put the shells into it and fry in medium flame. It takes little while to fry them.
- 8
Once they are golden colour remove from the flame.
- 9
Take sugar in sauce pan and add little water.Allow it to boil on medium flame.Boil the syrup till one string consistency comes.Add cardamon powder to the syrup.Off the flame and add all the fried shell to this sugar syrup and mix well.
- 10
Once it is cooled completely then keep it in air tight container.
- 11
