In the summer, ice cream shops and drink stands are always busy. So why not use seasonal fruit to make refreshing treats for your family that are both clean and quick to prepare? Since cherries are in season, let’s make cherry ice cream together!

Wash and chop the cherries. Place them in a saucepan with the sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring and mashing until you get a thick cherry sauce. Let it cool completely.

Whip the heavy whipping cream with a mixer until soft peaks form. Add the lemon juice and salt, then beat for a few more seconds. Turn off the mixer.

Gently fold the cooled cherry sauce into the whipped cream, reserving 1 tablespoon of the sauce to mix with the chocolate.

Pour the mixture into a mold and spread it evenly. Drizzle the chocolate mixed with the reserved cherry sauce over the top. Freeze for about 4 hours, or until the ice cream is set.

Scoop into cups or waffle cones. Garnish with extra cherries or chocolate as desired.
